Kelly A. Jurs, Attorney with Gawthrop Greenwood, PA The Greater West Chester Chamber of Commerced is pleased to announce the election of Kelly A, Jurs, Attorney with Gawthrop Greenwood, PC to its Board of Directors. Kelly A. Jurs is an attorney at the law firm Gawthrop Greenwood, PC, which is headquartered in West Chester and has been operating in Chester County since its founding in 1904. The firm has upheld a rich tradition of giving back to its community, as well as supporting and becoming actively involved in the business organizations that are valued by its clients and friends. Jurs to the Greater West Chester Chamber of Commerce’s Board of Directors. Kelly has lived in the West Chester community for more than 10 years and worked in the Borough her entire career, including in public service at the Chester County Public Defender’s office before entering private practice. She is well versed in the time commitment necessary to provide meaningful board service, as well as the variety of issues that nonprofits face including event planning, marketing, communications, financing and fundraising. With 15 years of litigation experience in the Chester County Court system, Jurs is a member of the Pennsylvania Council of Mediators. She handles all aspects of family law including pre- and post-nuptial planning, divorce, equitable distribution, alimony, child custody, property settlement, and related litigation and mediation. In her criminal defense practice, Kelly is qualified in Pennsylvania to serve as defense counsel on capital cases. She represents counsel in felony and misdemeanor cases, from the filing of a criminal complaint through trial and post-trial review, on issues ranging from DUI, possession, theft, assault and drug trafficking to first-degree homicide. Jurs also handles plea negotiations, treatment court resolutions, probation and parole violations as well as juvenile court. Before entering private practice, Jurs made sure every voice was heard as an attorney at the Chester County Public Defender’s Office. A member of the Chester County Bar Association, Jurs was a moderator for the West Chester Mayoral Candidate Policing Forum ahead of the Fall 2021 election and served as a co-panelist for the Continuing Legal Education course “How You Can Uniquely Contribute to Nonprofit Boards for Lawyers.” Active in public service and her community, Jurs serves on the board of Marshallton Conservation Trust Inc. and the board of the Charles A. Melton Arts and Education Center. She is also a member of the West Bradford Historical Commission and on the West Bradford Open Space, Recreation and Environmental Resources plan steering committee.
